NFL ePicks Rules

NFL ePicks Rules, 2008

1. Loser Line:
If anyone fails to submit their picks for the week, they will get a record that is equivalent to the lowest record for the week, minus 2. For example, if Andy fails to pick in week 1 and David did pick, but had the worst record at 9-7, then Andy's record would be 9-7 minus 2 or 7-9. If anyone fails to pick for 3 consecutive weeks, I will assume you have dropped out of the contest and that you want to go do other things.

2. Home Team Option:
If you have a "home team", or team that you have
followed all your lives, it can be difficult to pick
against them. If you have such a team that you are so
emotionally tied to, you may have difficulty in
picking for or against them. To accomodate people in
this situation, you may ELECT 1 team as your home
team. You will be granted a regular season record of
8-8 (50%). Since the Lowest % of picks last year was
53%, this will result in a penalty to you right out of
the gate. But you will still be able to take this
option if you want. Limitations: 1. The Home Team Option must be ELECTED before the start of the season, and 2. It applies to the regular season ONLY, and will not be granted for the playoffs. 3. The Home Team Option will only apply
to 1 team and can not be changed after the start of the season.

3. Utilize the Website if at all possible:
All picks and changes should be made via the website if at
all possible. You can also make them via email. It will greatly simplify my life if we all could do this. If your picks are made by email,it makes it easier for me to log them in and there is a time-stamp on the email. That makes it easier to determine if you have made your picks/changes on time. If you can't get to a computer, I will gladly accept your picks via phone, but I would appreciate it if you could try to use the website or email them if at all possible.

4. "Favorites" Picks:
You may elect to pick all "Favorites" for any given week. I would rather you actually make your picks as I believe we should all participate as best we can. However, I understand that everyone gets swamped at times and they don't always have time to sit and make their picks.

Please understand that if you elect to pick all favorites for a given week, I can not gaurantee which favorites line you will get. For example, if I log everyone's picks in on a Thursday, and you have elected all favorites, you will get Thursday's favorites. If Chad Pennington Breaks his leg in practice on Friday morning and Miami (who was a favorite on Thursday) becomes the underdog, you will still get Miami as your pick.

Long story short, if you elect to pick the favorites, please watch the line and make adjustments as you like.

5. Deadlines for your picks:
PLEASE try get them in by Friday at 7pm if at all Possible. The Ultimate, last-minute Deadline for making and/or chaning your picks is 2 minutes before Gametime. For my sanity, please try to make the picks early so I can email everyone back their initial picks.

6. Playoffs and Superbowl Count Double:
Since the Playoffs and Superbowl carry more "weight" in the real world, they will be counted double in our contest. For example: If we you pick 3 playoff winners, you get 6 wins for that week. Same for losses.

7. Superbowl Picks, blind picks:
Because our contest often comes down to the Superbowl, these picks will be blind, meaning no one will have the ability to learn what others have picked. This is to prevent the crazy scenario where player "A" says give me the opposite of what player "B" picks. Of course player "B" wants to pick the same team as player "A".

To prevent this, Superbowl picks will be "blind" and they will be emailed to everyone at Kickoff.

8. Have Fun!!
The point of this contest is for everyone to have fun. Please enjoy the season and let me know if there's anything I can do to improve the contest. Please forward me any ideas you may have on how to make the contest easier too.
